SALT project in downtown is 1.6 acres of a public/private partnership with the City of Oceanside. The former surface parking lot was owned by the City Redevelopment Agency and won through a RFQ/RFP process to design, entitle, and construct a mixed-use project featuring a 435 space City owned public parking structure wrapped with a 5 story, 52 unit, 60,000 SF mixed use condo/apt/retail (50,000 SF of living and 10,000 SF of neighborhood servicing retail). An integral aspect of the project was and continues to be outreach to neighbors, community stakeholders, City StaŠ and City decision makers. Salt was designed to be pedestrian friendly with a public court and promenade that is located two blocks from the multimodal Oceanside transit center, the historic downtown and the beach. Salt is one of the nine blocks within the Downtown/Ocean Renewal Specific Plan which includes three hotels, a timeshare and five mixed-use residential blocks. Four home types will range from 690-1,213 SF in one and two bedroom floor plans. The project was completed in August 2019 and the occupancy of residences and retail stores will be completed in early 2020.
